Benefits of Coffee Scrub: NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP. -

Benefits of Coffee Scrub:

NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP. -

  • The coffee grounds can help exfoliate old skin cells, while the caffeine can help minimize the appearance of cellulite and varicose veins; this is because caffeine works to constrict blood vessels so it can temporarily reduce varicose veins.

  • Caffeine may help prevent or delay the progression of skin cancer.

How often can I use a Body Scrub? Don’t use the body scrub too often because overuse may damage the new layer of skin once the dead skin is off the body surface. You can use a body scrub once or twice a week. Also remember to use a very gentle body scrub in case you have a dry skin. Also be very careful during winters when too much of scrubbing can damage the already dry skin.

Homemade Coffee Body Scrub: Take 1 cup of finely ground coffee and add half a cup of fresh yogurt or milk to it. Gently rub the paste onto your body and massage in circular motion. This body scrub will not require a moisturizing treatment afterwards since the yogurt or milk makes the skin soft and supple. After the exfoliation have a warm water shower or a dip in the tub to discover the goodness of this body scrub.

Coffee From Brazil -coffee bean love story

Coffee From Brazil -coffee bean love story
In 1727, a military man, Captain Francisco de Mello Palheta, introduced prized coffee seeds from French Guyana for the very first time in Brazil. At the time, French Guyana had a monopoly on coffee beans and refused to make them available to Brazilians.
NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP. -

Through charm and romance, Captain de Mello Palheta wooed a sample of coffee beans from the governor's wife who rewarded him for his personal flair with a bouquet of flowers where she hid coffee beans as a gift for "memories' sake." This was the beginning of the coffee trade for Brazil. At the time, sugar was the main crop in Brazil. However, it was quickly surpassed by coffee.

NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP. -

The "Fazendas de Café" (coffee plantations) were run as small states by coffee growing families committed to establishing an image of nobility and high class status. About 67% of all farms have less than 10 acres. About 25% of farms have less than 50 acres. The remaining 8% exceed 50 acres. As the song goes in Brazil, "...they've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil..."

What is amazing about this huge land mass is that only 7% represents arable land; 1% permanent crops and the balance (92%) other use such as urban, mangroves, jungle, forests, etc.

International immigration has played a very influential role in the development of Brazilian culture. The heritage of most Brazilians today who have traced their family trees include European, African, Amerindian, Asian and Middle Eastern backgrounds. Without any doubt, this is one of the most interesting features of Brazilian culture, music, cuisine and traditions. It is well worth tasting a cup of Brazilian Santos Bourbon with some smooth Samba music in the background.

Coffee News and Information

Brazil's Coffee Regions
There are three main coffee growing areas in Brazil: Mogiana, Sul Minas and Cerrado. These areas feature moderate sunlight and rain. The temperatures are steady year-round at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, ideal to grow Arabica and Robusta coffee trees. Arabica accounts for about 70% of total harvest. Robusta, a hardier plant that produces lower quality beans makes up the remaining 30%.

The Mogiana region: This is the area along the border of São Paulo and Minas Gerais states north of São Paulo. The Mogiana coffee region is named after the Companhia Mogiana Estrada de Ferro train line that ran through this area when trains and coffee were inseparable companions in commercial and community development. The Mogiana area is known for its rich red soil.

The Sul Minas region: This is the heart of Brazil's coffee country. The rugged, rolling hills of Sul Minas, are located in the southern part of Minas Gerais state northeast of São Paulo.

The Cerrado region: This is a high, semi-arid plateau surrounding the city of Patrocinio, between São Paulo and Brasilia. This area is located in Brazil's central high plains region.
Of all the coffees growing in these regions, Brazilian Santos Bourbon is Brazil's best well known Specialty Coffee.

Enjoy a cup of Santos Bourbon gourmet coffee!

Santos is a market name referring to the port through which this coffee is traditionally shipped.
The Arabica coffee plants that produce this coffee came from the rich volcanic soils of the island of Bourbon, now called the Island of Reunion.
From a historical perspective, the island of Reunion is located in the Indian Ocean, East of Madagascar. This island was an important stopover on the East Indian trading route. When the Suez Canal opened, the island lost its importance.
Fortunately for Brazil, the trees imported from the island of Reunion took root very well and started one of Brazil's main cash crops.
Brazilian Santos Bourbon is a light bodied coffee, with low acidity, a pleasing aroma and a mild, smooth flavor. Brazilian Santos Bourbon is dry-processed (dried inside the fruit) which is why some of the sweetness of the fruit carries into the cup.
Brazil's Coffee, Music, Art and Cultural Traditions
Coffee is one of Brazil's most valuable and widely traded commodity crops.
Brazil's origins make it a musical country full of passion, sentiment and joy: Indians' reed flutes; Portuguese viola players, and African thrilling drum rhythms. Brazilian music includes the soft sounds of bossa nova, the driving beat of samba and other rhythms based on percussion instruments and hand clapping.

The exact origin of samba is unknown. Perhaps it was born in the streets of Rio de Janeiro from a combination of Portuguese courtly songs, African rhythms and native Indian fast footwork. The reality is samba remains a part of Rio de Janeiro's streets. Carnival is one of the largest parties on Earth when hundreds of samba schools and thousands of people put on an unforgettable display of colors, music, noise and, yes, a lot of Brazilian coffee!

Coffee, Music and Art

Coffee is very much a part of Brazilian life where people encourage each other to enjoy a morning cup of coffee, to smell the flowers and to listen to the songbirds. There is a connection between coffee, songbirds and samba, Brazil's most popular rhythm. The natural sounds of songbirds influence many musical tunes and variations. The costumes of Carnival and daily clothing reflect colorful images and hues inspired by local wildlife.

Across the country, there is a growing awareness of the wildlife habitat reduction as a result of urbanization, conventional modern farming and deforestation. As a result, shade grown coffee, the traditional method of coffee farming, is growing in acceptance among farmers who recognize it as a positive alternative for wildlife conservation.

The Brazilian "Cafezinho" Tradition:
The "cafezinho" tradition is as Brazilian as Apple Pie is American. "Cafezinho" is the diminutive word in Portuguese for coffee. In Brazil, however, "cafezinho" is the way to welcome anyone into homes, businesses or just about anywhere. In Brazil it does not take long to learn the phrase "você quer um cafezinho?" (do you want a little coffee?). This is a question heard everywhere, all day long and almost always followed by a very small cup of very potent coffee. You can call it a mini espresso with a powerful punch!
"

Brazilians drink coffee all day long at specialty coffee bars, bakeries, restaurants, street cafes, and just about anywhere. Brazilians are very personable. Business meetings usually start with casual conversation and it is up to the host to start the business discussion. Often, Brazilians have "cafezinho" in the middle of a business discussion.
At such times, they may switch to non-business related talk, including storytelling prompted by the fragrance of the coffee which brings memory of a childhood experience or some other event.

Smell the Lavender Taste the Olive Oil..

Les Baux de Provence – the friend who recommended me this city said it was an unnecessary trip, compared to the region or Gordes Gorges du Verdon. I decided to go anyway. On the road from Avignon to Les Baux, the amount of viewpoints and the view could already imagine what I expected. Getting there, hotels along the road and very cute town, a tiny town wedged in the mountains of limestone at the foot of the ruins of an ancient castle. The entrance to the castle is essential: there you will have one of the most beautiful and spacious than you can imagine!
NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP

I stayed at the Hotel de la Bevengudo and I point out strongly. The room was very cozy, with a spa tub and a very good breakfast with croissants , jam and homemade yogurt.

Maussane-les-Alpilles – charming town that is 15 minutes from Les Baux.

It has a square, the Place of Monblan Joseph Laugier, which is delightful to take a sun, drinking a glass of ro’s wine waiting for dinner at La Place, great restaurant that is right there. Well nearby Fontvieille is a city where there is a mill, the

Moulin Alhonse Daudet, and St. Remy-de-Provence, a city where Van Gogh lived. I did not go in the latter, but the hint.

Arles – is a city much larger than previous ones. Has the Roman amphitheater surrounded by some pretty Ruizinh narrow and well. It is also worth visiting the Espace Van Gogh, the former hospice where the painter cut off his ear. Watch closely the garden that inspired the works for some is exciting!

Cassis – super charming, is very near Marseille. Cassis, from Porto leave the boats to meet the Calanques www.calanques13.com.

This tour is a must! It is very beautiful! Then exit the car and hit the road that called Route des Cretes. Has several lookouts to enjoy the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Stop at all, without haste. Then you can go to Ciutat, lunch on the Calanque Figuerolles . The place is very beautiful and quieter than the restaurants of the port in Cassis. I have not slept in Cassis, but when I return (I’ll be back!), I’ll stay a day or two there. There are great restaurants and shops, small shops! The site of the city is www.cassis.fr

Loumarin – was the city I liked most in the Luberon Valley. Legal shops, great restaurants, pretty much the same! On the main street, you can see the first photo below, has a bit of everything: the truffle oil that shop are wonderful, the kitchen supply shop, the gift shop, which has articles of brands and La Marelle La Fiance du Mekong, which I mentioned in the post on the Marais, the Boulangerie which is delicious (try a sweet biscuit made with oil giant, which is very typical of the region), caf’s!

Lavender, surely a defining symbol of Provence. -

True lavender (lavandula angustifolia) grows best at an altitude of 600 – 1,600 metres above sea level, while Spike lavender (lavandula latifolia) prefers higher temperatures and lower altitudes of between 200 – 500 metres.

In Provence, the lavender files have a very different landscape throughout the year. After cutting the harvest, the land just leaving only the dry and short stems, covering with snow in winter. But a little in spring, the green is come out. In lavender season-June, as the summer sunlight is getting heater and heater, the lavender flowers quickly turned into the lovely deep purple.

The following work is harvest. The time is very important for lavenderl, so, the flower farmer has to work without day and night and distilled extract. Until September, all is done, lavender field was able to breath and absorb the essence of nature, to bloom again next summer, purple flowers and preparation.
Lavender, also known as Lavandula angustifolia, is one of the most widely used, versatile herbs known today. It is considered a member of the Labiatae family, which also includes mints and the plant originated in England, France, Tasmania, and Yugoslavia. The word lavender is derived from the Latin root lavare which means to wash.
The Many Benefits of Lavender The essential oil of lavender has a calming, sedative, and anti-convulsive … that regulates herbal remedies, also approves lavender for treating relaxation and restlessness. Considered the universal oil, lavender is readily used neat, or undiluted, and combines well with almost all other oils for a wide variety of benefits. Many aromatherapists say lavender is the first essential oil to get.

Provence evokes images of fields of beautiful purple flowers, which is due to the enormous amount of lavender that is grown here. Provence is also famous of its exquisite wine. Provence now leads the field in lavender production, the Romans having first brought it to the area. 20th Century shepherds collected it to sell to perfumeries of Grasse and just prior to WW1, perfumers and the French Government saw lavender as a means of preventing people from leaving the area, so they cleared the almond orchards and planted lavender. Other producers are Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Australia, Japanan, America and Canada.

Today, lavender is used to induce sleep, ease stress and relieve depression. It is also used as a tea, for compresses for dressing wounds and to apply to the forehead to relieve congestion on sinuses, headaches, hangovers, tiredness, tension and exhaustion.

Today I bring you a wonderful morrocan clay goat's milk and jasmine all in one soap. Clay is one of my favorite additives in soap because it gives it a really nice texture. Clay has many therapeutic benefits and depending on the skin type we are going to use it on, we will use a different kind of clay. You can find it in all colors, brown, blue, green , yellow, red, white, pink (a mixture of red and white), you name it and each one has its own different characteristics and composition. In this soap I have used pink barroco morrocan clay because this clay is great for sensitive and dry skin and it is recommended to soften and clean your skin. If you have never use soap with clay I encourage you give a try , I am sure you will be surprised at the results. Just try ones of our NATURAL HANDCRAFTED SOAP with clay , if the soap is for someone with oily skin I would recommend green clay. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.
